Bac Giang’s export and import yet to be impacted by nCoV epidemic

Updated: 16:36, 05/02/2020
(BGO) – In the face of nCoV complex situation, the Customs Office controlling the industrial parks in Bac Giang province and the Department of Industry and Trade have strictly supervised the situation to give timely instruction to the enterprises.

The newest statistic showed that the customs office received more than 17,000 customs declaration sheets from the enterprises in the province in January 2020, down nearly 4,000 sheets comparing to the figure in December 2019, including over 10,000 import declaration sheets (down more than 1,500 sheets) and 7,000 export declaration sheets (down over 1,300 sheets).

Xuong Giang Paper Mill (Bac Giang Export Import Joint Stock Company) remains the production line.

The competent agency considered the reason of the decrease was due to the operation stop on lunar New Year holiday, not by the impact of the acute respiratory epidemic.

According to Vice Head of the Customs Office controlling the provincial industrial parks Ngo Thanh Tuyen, the province has more than 1,400 enterprises operating in the export and import fields.

Currently, the demand of farm produce consumption at China is slowdown because of the nCoV complex situation. The preventive measures are strictly conducted, leading to the difficulties in commodity transport among the provinces and cities in China.

However, Bac Giang’s key export farm produce to China mostly is lychee while importing the equipment and product for garment and electronic sector from this country, thus there is now not much impacted by the diseases. The import and export activities are normally conducted.

In the upcoming time, if the epidemic is prolonged causing the limited exchange of commodities at the border gates between Vietnam and China, there will be many difficulties for the import and export activities.

Thus, the provincial businesses, especially those trading of farm produce should acknowledge the bad situation to actively change the method of transport, product consumption, export orientation and boost up the linkage toward domestic consumption.
