Crocosmia flowers drenched in brilliant red on Mount Fansipan
Lasting until August 30, the 2024 Crocosmia Flower Festival is attracting large numbers of tourists to Mount Fansipan in the Sapa National Tourist Area, Lao Cai Province.
These days, the area is adorned with a sea of crocosmia flowers blooming with brilliant red flowers.
With corms forming vertical chains and colourful inflorescences of 4 to 20 vivid red and orange subopposite flowers, crocosmia symbolises a bumper harvest, luck, and prosperity in life.

In Sapa Town, August is the blooming season of the flowering plant, during which the mountainous landscape is covered in a charming orange-red colour, shining brightly against the blue sky and white clouds.
Visitors to the 2024 Crocosmia Flower Festival can not only immerse themselves in the splendid blooming flowers but also take part in various activities imbued with the cultural features of local ethnic groups, such as making ‘banh day’ (round glutinous rice cake) and five-coloured sticky rice or trying bamboo pole dancing.
Notably, during the month-long festival, visitors from nine northwest provinces, including Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien and Tuyen Quang, receive up to 50% discounts on cable car tickets to Fansipan Peak.
