Smart ‘Rice ATM’ launched to support poor people amid Covid-19 outbreak. |
The new ‘rice ATM’ is installed with smart technologies including digitising the recipient's data, making a phone call to the recipient to notify them about the times they may receive rice, and recognising the recipient's faces.
Accordingly, the Da Nang City Red Cross Society has made a list of poor households in the city with their necessary information, which will be sent to their residential areas’ authorities for verification.
The recipients’ information will then be updated on the rice ATM’s system to make a phone call to book an appointment with them.
The recipients have also been instructed to confirm their appointment or changes the time for receiving rice using the numeric keys on their phone. People don't need to have smartphones to use the function.
These smart features will help the recipients save time to receive rice, practice social distancing, ensure fairness and equality regarding the quantity of rice being distributed to each person.
According to Chairwoman of Da Nang City Red Cross Society Le Thi Nhu Hong, the rice dispenser will provide approximately 3,000 people with 20 tonnes of rice, values at around VND300 million.
