Digital transformation – key to fast and sustainable development

Updated: 11:43, 02/05/2025

BAC GIANG - In recent years, Bac Giang province has become a shining example of attracting investment, consistently ranking among the leading localities nationwide in digital transformation and innovation indices. To meet the demands of the new era, the province has continually improved its human resources quality and promoted the creative emulation movement.

On December 22, 2024, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Immediately after, the Bac Giang provincial Party Committee issued a specific plan, requiring Party committees at all levels, agencies, units, and political-social organisations to deeply understand and fully implement the content of Resolution No. 57.

The goal is to tap into all potential, advantages, and resources of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation to drive Bac Giang's rapid and sustainable development.

At grassroots trade unions, a wide-reaching emulation campaign has been launched, associated with the movements of "Good Workers – Creative Workers," "Higher Productivity, Better Quality," and others, to attract a large number of trade union members and workers.

At the beginning of the day at the one-stop-shop unit of Quang Minh ward (Viet Yen township), many citizens came for transactions. Nguyen Thi Huong, Vice Chairwoman of the ward People's Committee, said that since March 2025, the one-stop-shop unit has applied the intelligent online appointment booking system.

As a result, people can schedule appointments in advance through the website or mobile app, allowing them to manage their work and reduce waiting time.

The system also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help arrange appointments, avoid overload during peak hours; and integrate services like checking the status of records, procedural guidance, and required documents.

In the business community, Ha Phong Export Garment JSC in Hiep Hoa district is a leading example in the creative innovation movement.

Vu Thi Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of the company’s Trade Union, shared: "Currently, the company employs nearly 8,000 workers. Each year, the Trade Union Executive Committee launches emulation movements linked to the professional tasks of each union team."

These initiatives call on workers to continuously learn to improve their professional skills, foster innovations, improve techniques, promote sci-tech research and application, and raise labour productivity and work efficiency.

To widely spread the emulation movement, the company introduced a reward regime in 2020 with specific regulations, offering awards from 10 million VND to 100 million VND (384-3,840 USD) per initiative.

On average, each year, the company successfully implements 120 to 150 initiatives, earning billions of VND. Since the beginning of the year, 20 initiatives have already been applied at the company.

At educational establishments across the province, teachers have taken the lead in applying information technology and AI in their lessons, sparking a strong spirit of creativity among students. Many students have won high awards in science and technology competitions at various levels.

According to Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs - the Standing Agency of the provincial Emulation and Reward Council, the emulation movement for innovation and digital transformation is identified as the “key” to driving fast and sustainable development in the new era. Therefore, agencies, localities, and businesses should proactively launch thematic competitions based on their specific missions.

The province also continues to invest in the upgrade of equipment for work; offer regular training to improve professional skills, work competence, and problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, it will create a favourable environment for officials and workers to engage in creative competitions and establish mechanisms for timely encouragement and rewards.
