Bac Giang applies digital technology in promoting tourism
BẮC GIANG – With the aim of promoting tourism, in recent years, various sectors, localities, organisations, and businesses across the province have actively applied digital technology in promoting the image of Bac Giang tourism, providing many exciting experiences for visitors.
Creating attractiveness with technology
The "Smart Tourism Portal of Bac Giang province" with the domain name mybacgiang.vn, developed by the Bac Giang Information and Tourism Promotion Centre (now the provincial Culture and Tourism Promotion Centre), officially went into operation in 2022 and has been upgraded over the years.

The portal integrates all tourism-related data, making it easier for tourists, travel businesses, and managers to search for information about tourist sites, services, entertainment areas, restaurants and hotels across the province.
The website dulichbacgiang.gov.vn, developed by the centre, is also being upgraded to connect with national databases for easier tourism-related information search.
The centre has also developed and integrated many applications, digitised tourism presentations with QR codes, implemented electronic payments on smartphones, and created electronic travel books. Particularly, the VR360 technology application (virtual reality tourism), completed in 2024, has proven effective.
When experiencing this application, viewers can clearly see the beauty of famous landmarks and scenic spots across many localities through lively videos and images.
Than Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the provincial Culture and Tourism Promotion Centre, stated that with the application of VR360 technology, the centre has established 16 tourist sites and landmarks, corresponding to 16 virtual reality tours. This is seen as a breakthrough in renovating tourism promotion methods.
Alongside these applications, districts, townships, and Bac Giang city have also created QR codes and digitised heritage sites, he added.

Implementing the plan for digital transformation in Bac Giang province for the 2021-2025 period, with a vision for 2030, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has worked with related units to implement several key activities, including applying information technology, gradually digitising the database to serve tourism management and promotion, and researching and developing mobile apps for accessing tourism information.
They are also designing and producing electronic information publications to make it easier for tourists to access information.
Additionally, the department has requested mobile network operators to install 3G, 4G, and 5G towers, as well as free Wi-Fi hotspots in the central areas of districts, township, and Bac Giang city, and in tourist spots without mobile signal coverage.
In addition to infrastructure investment, many tourism businesses have collaborated with famous TikTokers, models, and artists to promote the province's heritage sites, scenic landscapes, and local specialties.
According to relevant authorities, the use of digital technology in tourism has initially brought positive results, contributing to promoting the image of the land, people, and unique cultural values of Bac Giang.
In 2024, the province welcomed about 2.6 million tourist arrivals, an increase of 26.8% compared to 2023. Total revenue from tourism-related activities exceeded 2 trillion VND (78 million USD), up 38% year-on-year.
In the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will continue to cooperate with localities and organisations to step up the application of science and technology in tourism activities; invest in upgrading technology infrastructure and equipment to serve digital transformation; and develop artificial intelligence applications and virtual tourism assistants to digitise landmarks and heritage sites.
