(BGO) - Do Duc Chien (born in 2005) in Trung Hoa village, Mai Trung commune, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province is in a coma in the hospital while his friends are enjoying their time at school.

Chien was normal like other children when he was born. He is a good and beloved student. Unfortunately, Chien has suffered from regular headache and convulsion since 2 years ago.

Chien is under treatment at the hospital.

“We thought my son had epilepsia so we did not take him to hospital for careful check. In 4 July morning when he woke up for school, he started vomiting and passed out. The doctors of 108 Military Central Hospital concluded he got congenital brain defects, brain aneurysm and cerebrovascular rupture. Luckily, he was given timely first aid and surgery to save his life”, Nguyen Thu Ha, Chien’s mother sadly said.

As talking about Chien’s condition, doctor Nguyen Thi Hieu, Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison (the provincial General Hospital) shared, the hospital received Chien from the upper-level hospital after he underwent a surgery for brain aneurysm and cerebrovascular rupture (his brain is being cared outside) suffering from tracheotomy and spasticity after operation while his health is terribly exhausted. Chien needs a long-term intensive care to improve his health before undergoing a brain transplant surgery.

Chien’s family is very poor facing a lot of difficulties. His father Do Duc Chien got mental illness when he was at university that he had to stop studying. His’s mother is also weak. Chien’s elder brother is studying high school. This 4-people family lives on some farmland. Their small house was built with support from their relatives.

One year ago, Chien’s mother worked as a cook for a company in Bac Ninh province earning some millions dong per month but she has not had a saving.

Since her son got ill, Ha had to stop working to take care of him with help from her relatives. The hospital, surgery, treatment fees and other expenses for Chien cost about 300 million dong (13,000 USD). They had to borrow this amount mostly from their relatives.

Chien can recover for a brain transplant surgery or not greatly depending on kind attention and help from the community. Any support is kindly requested to send to his mother Nguyen Thu Ha at bank account number 70000893324, Shinhan Bank, Bac Ninh branch, phone number 84-972703817.
