Exhibition recreates Tet atmosphere of olden days in northern region

An exhibition opened at Hai Duong provincial Museum on January 11 under the theme ‘Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) festival of the olden days’.

The exhibition displays nearly 200 objects and photos, recreating the traditional culture and Tet celebrations of people in the northern region and Hai Duong province in particular, in the past.

Visitors to the event can explore significant rituals of the Tet festival, including the Kitchen Gods worshipping ritual, the installation of a Neu pole (a tall bamboo tree with red garment strips used to ward off evil spirits during Tet), and the New Year’s Eve, as well as how Vietnamese people prepared for Tet and enjoyed the most important festival of the year.

The exhibits also include pottery products, made by members of the Hai Duong Pottery Club, paintings, calligraphic works, and confectionery.

The exhibition, which will run until February 6, aims to raise public awareness of preserving and promoting national cultural values.
