Foxconn said the employees will have a total income of 8-10 million VND a month. The group will sign a formal contract and pay social insurance premiums for them right from the first month of working. In particular, they will enjoy a basic salary of 4.9 million VND (213 USD), accommodation and diligence allowances of 500,000 VND each, and an amount of over 1.2 million VND in support for their living and meal costs per month.
Vietnam is currently Foxconn's largest production site in Southeast Asia. In November 2020, the group started building a factory in Bac Giang province, which is expected to come into operation in the first half of this year. This factory will house its iPad tablet and Apple MacBook laptop assembly lines.
Some orders from the Chinese factory will be shifted to these new lines, but the volume was not revealed. Previously, Foxconn's 270-million-USD project manufacturing laptops and tablets in Bac Giang received the investment licence by the provincial People's Committee.
Foxconn started to invest in Vietnam in 2007. In addition to Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, it has also operated in Vinh Phuc and Quang Ninh provinces. This firm is providing jobs for about 50,000 workers in Vietnam.
Foxconn, specializing in assembling products for Apple, has just worked with Thanh Hoa province to explore investment opportunities. Accordingly, the group is looking for locations with an area of 100-150 hectares, total investment capital of 1.3 billion USD, and export revenue of 10 billion USD a year.
