Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung (R) and Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Dapkiunas met in Hanoi on December 4.

The official stated Belarus considers cooperation with Vietnam a priority of its diplomacy in Asia, noting that bilateral ties in many fields are still short of their potential.

He praised Hanoi authorities’ support for Belarusian firms operating in the city. He hoped collaboration between Vietnam and his country as well as between Hanoi and Minsk would improve in the future.

Agreeing with his guest, Hung highlighted the potential for bilateral engagements between the two capitals and said Hanoi will soon send a delegation to Minsk to discuss the cooperation pact. The agreement is expected to be signed in May or June next year, he added.

The official took the occasion to praise the performance of 32 made-in-Belarus buses in Hanoi, asking the Belarusian side to continue its involvement in the development of the local bus system and public transport management.

Hanoi put the 32 buses produced by the Belarusian Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) into use last year. The vehicles have proved better quality compared to others operated in the city.
