Hanoi’s student wins Asian drawing award

The Department of Fine Arts, Photography, and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said on December 13 that Trang, a pupil of the Hanoi-Amsterdam School for Gifted Students, has been invited to attend the awards ceremony in Tokyo, Japan.

Trang’s paintings were among the eight local entries sent to the international competition in Japan. The entries had all received A-class awards at home.
The same day, the department presented eight A, five B, and ten consolation awards to outstanding individuals.
Meanwhile, the Children’s House of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 4, the Olympia Schools of Hanoi, the Children’s House of Dong Nai province, the Children’s House of Lang Son province, and the Viet Duc Children’s Cultural Centre of Nghe An province’s Vinh city were honored as excellent organizations.
Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Fine Arts, Photography, and Exhibition Department and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, said that the illustrated diary contest in Vietnam has been held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan for the past 12 years, helping Vietnamese children gain a deeper insight into the daily life of Asian people.
At this year’s event, the organizing board received 6,672 entries of children aged six to 12 years old from 41 cities and province nationwide.
The Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa has been sponsored by the Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee, the Asian Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations, and the National Federation of UNESCO Association in Japan since 1990. The Festa so far has collected 751,069 works from 24 Asian nations and region.
Exhibitions of represented works have taken place all over Japan as well as overseas to promote international understanding among children in Asia.
