Hau Giang to host first marathon for climate change campaign

The first Mekong Delta Marathon Hau Giang 2019 will be organized on April 21 in Vi Thanh city in Hau Giang province, aiming to raise public awareness of climate change.
More than 1,500 athletes have registered to run on four different routes of the marathon.

The organizers said participants would have the chance to enjoy the delta’s amazing scenery and culture during the run.
Music and dance performances will also be held to entertain runners.
All cash collected from the event will be donated to local funds for the poor and help people who suffer from climate change.

A half marathon race aimed at promoting public awareness on tiger protection in Vietnam will be held at the Ciputra urban area, in Hanoi's Bac Tu Liem district, on December 12.
More than 2,600 runners, including foreigners from 50 countries and territories, took part in the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon 2018 in the capital city on October 21.
The 2018 HCMC International Marathon to be run on December 2 will be linked with a charitable cause.
More than 8,000 runners will compete in the sixth Ho Chi Minh City Marathon, which is scheduled to kick off on January 12, 2019. The information was announced at a press conference held in the city on October 3 by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Athletics Federation, and main sponsor Taiwan Excellence.
The annual Sa Pa international mountain marathon 2018, the sixth of its kind, took place in Sa Pa district, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on September 21-23, as part of the Sa Pa autumn festival 2018.
