For sustainable development of fruit trees, Bac Giang pays attention to 3 issues. Firstly, focusing on organic farming to protect land and hygiene safety. Secondly, establishing trademarks of farm produce, particularly the province will complete setting up geographical indications for citrus trees in 2021 opening new opportunities for Bac Giang’s farm produce to enter consumption chains of the supermarkets, trade centers and export. Thirdly, applying science and technology advancement in production to enhance productivity and product value.

The local government will pay attention to product consumption promotion, close management of agricultural materials and creating favourable production environment. Thus, the measures by local government have been trusted by people. The provincial Chairman believed that Bac Giang’s agriculture would sustainably develop and bring high income to farmers.

On visiting the orchards, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong highly appreciated the methods of Bac Giang. He stressed, Bac Giang is one of the pioneering provinces in exploiting advantages of the province’s products.

In recent years, Bac Giang has made good use of its advantages with large area of gardens and hills especially in fruit tree development. Luc Ngan is famous for lychee and other fruit trees as well. Currently, the citrus trees such as sweet orange yields high output, even 50 tonnes per hectare at some orchards bringing economic efficiency from 1 to 2 billion VND (43,516 to 87,032 USD) per hectare.

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development encourages other provinces and cities to research and exploit crops and products of the local strength following the implementation methods of Bac Giang. He affirmed, Bac Giang has established the cultivation areas of custard apple, citrus trees and lychee which have been consumed in both domestic and export markets. Hence, Bac Giang has done a good job in concentrated production instead of small- scale farming.

For higher efficiency, the Minister urged Bac Giang to make good use of the advantages to develop fruit trees with 3 groups of key products including the national products, provincial products and local signature products. Accordingly, the province needs to follow 3 principles. First, it is necessary to apply the highest technology suitable for the objectives, production scale and cultivation of each locality.

Second, the province needs to focus on production under the commodity chains. It is essential to closely attach the material areas to processing and market for every production scale.

Third, after defining the advantageous plant breeding, the province needs to pay high attention with groups of measures from mechanism, incentive policies and technologies to gain highest efficiency.

As talking to the orchard owners, the Minister encouraged the farmers to maintain the fruit gardens. They are advised to continue following safety farming procedures because only clean products can be smoothly consumed. The Minister assigned the Ministry’s competent agencies to research and seek solutions to help farmers in Luc Ngan to reduce pests and diseases on fruit trees especially citrus trees.

Bac Giang ready to welcome new wave of FDI
(BGO) - In 2020 and early this year, the Covid-19 pandemic has developed complicatedly in some countries around the world, affecting the investment environment of many enterprises. Besides doing well pandemic prevention and control, Bac Giang province has been implementing many synchronous solutions in order to catch the "wave" of shifting foreign direct investment (FDI) to the locality.
Bac Giang: Working in silence to trace for SARS-CoV-2
(BGO)- Although not many people know about them and their silent but important work in the fight against Covid-19, the doctors and technicians of the provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) spend all days and nights in the lab to trace for the severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) regardless of the risk to become victims of this deadly virus.
