New look in model new-style rural villages
BAC GIANG - The set of criteria for model new-style rural villages has been applied in Bac Giang province since May 2018. Now the entire province has hundreds of model new-style rural villages, contributing to comprehensively changing the picture of rural areas and forming livable countryside.
Good methods
Lang Giang is one of the localities that have achieved many results in building model new-style rural areas. The district currently has 77 model new-style rural villages and strives to have 22 more by the end of this year.

According to a representative of the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first six months of this year, Lang Giang started work on 139 projects in villages registering to build model new-style rural areas, of which 53 projects were completed.
In July, the district plans to recognize eight more model new-style rural villages, including Nui Thuong (Quang Thinh commune), Cao Thuong and Bai Sim (Tan Hung commune); Dau (Nghia Hung commune), Tay Lo and Tan Phuc (Dao My commune), Tan Son 4 (Tan Dinh commune) and Pha Mac (An Ha commune). In 2023, Nuoc Gioi village, Tan Hung commune was recognised as a model new-style area as a result of locals’ great efforts.
In Yen Dung district, many residential areas have regularly paid attention to performing well beautifying roads; planting and taking care of flowers and trees along roads; and collecting, classifying and treating waste; promoting neighbourliness, uniting to build increasingly rich and beautiful villages.
For example, in Tan My model new-style rural village in Canh Thuy commune, to achieve the seven criteria for a model new-style rural area, the village management board organized study tours of many model villages in Tien Dung and Duc Giang communes and then applied experience they obtained during the visits in the locality.
Maintaining standards
Determining that "building new-style rural areas is a continuous, long-term process, with a starting point but no ending point", the province has directed localities to continue to maintain and improve quality when implementing the set of criteria.

According to the provincial new-style rural building coordination office, up to now, 100% of villages registering for model new-style rural area building have had their implementation plans approved by the communal authorities.
The whole province currently has 366 model new-style rural villages, an increase of 282 villages compared to 2019. In these villages, people's lives have been improved; social security has been ensured; and culture, sports, education, health and environment have seen positive changes.
To maintain the criteria and complete the goal of having 72 more model new-style rural villages by the end of this year, localities will focus on maintaining and improving the criteria for model new-style rural villages to form livable rural villages. They will regularly organize competitions to create a vibrant atmosphere as well as exchanges and study tours between villages and households.
In addition, localities will pay attention to building new-style rural areas associated with digital transformation to form smart villages and communes; and build model rural villages associated with rural tourism.
They will carry out agricultural and forestry extension work well, guide and transfer knowledge, skills and technical advances to improve people's production capacity. At the same time, they will continue to deliver credits for social policy beneficiaries and effectively integrate programmes and projects to support household economic development.
To successfully build model new-style rural villages, there needs to be high unity and consensus among party committees, party cells and all people. It is necessary to well implement democratic regulations with the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people check"; and replicate the results of implementing the pilot models in building model new-style rural areas for localities to follow.
Good methods and creative practices that draw community engagement in implementing model new-style rural villages should be spread, thereby enhancing self-awareness and promoting the dynamism and creativeness of farmers in the implementation process.
