It advised tourists to buy fish sauce at traditional fishing villages like Ham Ninh, around 14 kilometers from the downtown area, where fresh seafood is also available daily.
Phu Quoc has aviation connectivity with regional tourist destinations like India, making the island one of the new stars of Vietnam's tourism, it said.
Last year low-cost airline Vietjet began direct services from Phu Quoc to Indian cities New Delhi and Mumbai.
Well known for its long, sandy beaches, turquoise waters and dense forests, Phu Quoc has become a popular holiday destination for both domestic and international tourists.
The list includes other Asian tourist hotspots like Khao Lak in Thailand, Sentosa in Singapore, Raja Ampat in Indonesia, and Fukuoka in Japan.
