Pop star wows 30,000 fans in Hanoi show

Updated: 21:59, 07/11/2022
Pop star My Tam wowed the audience and expressed gratitude to about 30,000 fans who attended her live show at Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium Saturday night.

The live show, "Tri Am” (rough translation: Soulmate), was held after a postponement of three years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of her supporters arrived early to secure a good place.

Tam and singer Ha Anh Tuan sang the popular duet “Sai Cung Thanh Dung” (Right Is Also Wrong) to great applause, which heightened as the two artists performed intimate gestures like holding hands and kissing each other on the cheeks. Emotionally overcome, My Tam sobbed on Ha Anh Tuan's shoulder at the end of the performance.

Several times during the show, the singer cried, knelt and bowed to thank the audience.

My Tam first performed live at My Dinh Stadium 18 years ago. When she returned to the stage, she was moved to hear that many of those who had attended the 2004 live event had continued to support her.

She sang several hits from the first decade of the new millennium, including "Toc Nau Moi Tram" (Brown Hair With Dark Lips) and "Hat Voi Dong Song" (Singing With The River).

My Tam performed more than 40 songs over three and a half hours, donning a variety of costumes and using many props.

She sits on a floating moon and sings her hit “Uoc Gi” (I wish), wearing a long, flowing skirt that seems to cover the entire stage.

Tam also sang and danced to a number of newly remixed EDM-style tunes.

The singer enthralled the audience with a series of songs near the end of the event and promised to return to My Dinh soon.
