The logo on the medal, uses the design of a V-shaped hand that can also be seen as a bird. Hoang Xuan Hieu, the creator of the logo, said his work represents peace as well as pride as athletes put their hands on their chests and look up to the national flag. The blue bird is a symbol of the unyielding spirit, the desire to conquer and friendship in Southeast Asia.
The gold medal will be coated with 24k gold plating. Similarly, silver medals will be silver plated and bronze medals, bronze plated.
In addition, to increase durability, each medal will be coated with three layers of plating inside and covered with one more layer outside. The medal strip is not made of silk or satin like other medals but woven fabric.
SEA Games 31 will be hosted in Vietnam from May 12 to 23, with 40 sports and 526 categories in 11 provinces and cities.
