During his work, he always studies, enriches his knowledge and innovates his teaching methods to make his lectures easier to understand for the students. He won the second prize at the National Vocational Teacher Contest with the lecture titled “Programming lifting equipment controller using PLC”.

Remembering the time before the contest, he told “I had to work very hard under high pressure but I was very happy. I went to teaching in the daytime then came back home studying to complete my lesson plans until late at night. Fortunately, I received support from my colleagues and the college; hence I gained good result at the contest”. His competition was highly evaluated for both application of information technologies in teaching and his pedagogical skills.

As he found the traditional teaching method (the students take note while the teacher is talking) unsuitable for the technical major, he designed the lessons in 3D models. Particularly, the technical specifications or emulations were presented with the projector to facilitate students in programming and connecting lifting equipment.

Three students practiced programming based on his lectures but some errors occurred. Thus, teacher Nam directly solved the problem and guided them to handle. This situation was highly evaluated by the Jury at which the ability of the teacher was expressed.

Than Thi Hoang Yen (born in 1983), a teacher of the Faculty of Fashion Garment, VK-Tech also won second prize at this contest. Yen said, after graduating from the Faculty of Fashion Garment, Hung Yen University of Technology and Education in 2005, she started working for Bac Giang Vocational College, now VK-Tech.

She has ceaselessly studied to enrich her knowledge and skills to become a good teacher. She often took part in the excellent vocational teacher contests organized by the college and the province.

“I was very surprised to be selected in the provincial team to take part in the national contest because I only gained the consolation prize at the provincial contest in 2017. With my pride and responsibility, I tried to arrange my schedule to well prepare for the contest”, said Yen.

At the garment competition section, the teachers chose one of the three contents including theory, vocational practice or mix of two contents. Yen chose the most difficult one with the requirement “sewing two-edged bag”. Within 60 minutes of teaching theory and guiding the practice, thanks to her experience and flexible teaching skills, she scored 18.23 points ranking second after the first winner with 18.25 points.

As young teachers, Nam and Yen have made great efforts in improving their knowledge by studying and applying scientific and technology advances in teaching to create interesting and helpful lessons for the students.

Thanks to the support of the good teachers, it is expected that there will be more skillful workers to meet the demands of the labor market contributing to the local development.
