The three-day event, themed "Bac Giang: Creative start - Aspiration to reach far," was organized by the provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Organizing Committee of the Innovative Startup Competition 2023 awards the first prize to author Vu Thi Lan Phuong for the project "Box of Happiness".

Attending the opening ceremony were Le Anh Duong, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Hoang Giang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Tran Lan Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union; Lam Thi Huong Thanh, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Council; Mai Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, head of the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 Organizing Committee; Nghiem Xuan Huong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; representatives from central agencies, and northern midland and mountainous provinces; experts, investors and startups.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mai Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, head of the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 Organizing Committee, stated that Techfest Bac Giang 2023 demonstrates the province’s determination to promote sci-tech application. Through this event, Bac Giang province hopes that experts, managers, and the startup community can exchange and share new mindsets and new visions on new technology trends, solutions, and products of the future, he said.

“This is also a good opportunity for businesses, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the province to promote science and technology products and services,’ he noted.

The official asked departments, agencies, and People's Committees of districts and Bac Giang city to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in society; proactively connect the province's innovative startup ecosystem platform with the national one; research and propose mechanisms and policies to promote innovation.

On behalf of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Deputy Minister Giang urged Bac Giang province to continue to pay attention to creating favourable conditions and legal basis for innovative startup businesses to operate effectively with the least costs and risks. The province should arrange funds to implement programmes and projects to develop the science and technology market; support startup, innovation and technology transfer; promote commercialization of research results and develop key products and those under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme.

At the festival, the participating leaders cut the ribbon to open a space displaying science and technology and innovative startup products, and typical OCOP products of Bac Giang and other provinces. More than 60 booths were impressively and beautifully designed, attracting a large number of visitors.

Many scientific forums and seminars were also held during the festival, focusing on developing human resources and innovation space in the fields of semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence; innovative startup associated with developing OCOP products; youth response to building a startup ecosystem. They attracted many startup experts, businesses, and individuals who delivered new, practical opinions, helping the province to map out mechanisms and policies to attract investment and find potential human resources.

A highlight of the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 was the final round of the Bac Giang Innovative Startup Competition 2023. The competition was launched in May, receiving 86 entries. Of which, nine projects were selected for the final round. Author Vu Thi Lan Phuong in Dinh Ke ward, Bac Giang city won the first prize with the project "Box of Happiness".

At the end of the festival, Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thanh Binh launched the Bac Giang Innovative Startup Competition 2024.
