Tho Ha communal house’s door painting in fresco recognized as national treasure

Tho Ha communal house was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic. This is the famous ancient communal house of Kinh Bac region, built in the late 17th century. It represents the spiritual and cultural space of the Vietnamese people with its typical architecture. The door painting in fresco of the communal house was made in the 13th year of Chinh Hoa (1692). It was painted with gold lacquer and elaborately carved, bearing the art style of the Le Dynasty, with some parts featuring the art style of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Bac Giang province now has four national treasures recognized by the Prime Minister, including the incense-table at Kham Lang pagoda in Kham Lang commune (Luc Nam district); the Mac Dynasty’s box-shaped stone stele in Doi Coc, Dinh Tri commune, (Bac Giang city); Buddhist prayer woodblocks at Bo Da pagoda: and the door painting in fresco of Tho Ha communal house (Viet Yen district).
