An important highlight of the Tay Yen Tu Festival and the Bac Giang Culture – Tourism Week this year is the procession of the tablets of Tam To Truc Lam (the three founders of the Truc Lam Buddhist Zen sect) from Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Bac Giang city) to Hạ Tay Yen Tu Pagoda (Son Dong district).
These day, the management board of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, along with Buddhists, is refurbishing, repairing, cleaning, and decorating the heritage site.
According to Venerable Thich Thanh Vinh, deputy head of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, the pagoda is preparing to display a set of 3,050 engraved woodblocks featuring texts of sutras.
These will be exhibited during the festival to introduce to Buddhists and visitors the UNESCO-recognised documentary heritage of the Asia-Pacific region.
At the same time, they are coordinating with relevant units to meticulously prepare for the procession of the Tam To Truc Lam tablets and the reenactment of King Tran Nhan Tong's visit to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda.
The Tay Yen Tu Festival and the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week will be held at the Tay Yen Tu Spiritual-Ecological Tourism Area.
According to Do Tuan Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week is an important event organised at the provincial level to introduce and promote the province's unique and outstanding cultural values, as well as its tourism resources.
The goal is to develop key tourism products, especially the Truc Lam Buddhist cultural space in Tay Yen Tu, thus attracting both domestic and international visitors.
A major highlight of the event will be the opening ceremony of the Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival and the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week on February 9 (the 12th of the first lunar month).
