The finals, which saw Vietnam face off against Thailand, drove massive interest in search terms such as "Vietnam vs. Thailand" and "Thailand vs. Vietnam," making them the top queries during this period.
The demand for real-time match updates was also high, with phrases like "live football" and "live football today" among the most popular searches.
Among the top 10 search terms, only two were related to the English Premier League, while the remaining eight were linked to the ASEAN Cup.
The report highlights strong interest in updates about Vietnam’s players, with the six most-searched being striker Nguyen Xuan Son, midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc, goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, striker Nguyen Tien Linh, and defender Do Duy Manh.
Head coach Kim Sang-sik also garnered around 17,000 searches during this time.
Son, whose Brazilian name is Rafaelson Fernandes, received Vietnamese citizenship in September. He became the first naturalized player without Vietnamese ancestry to be called up to the national team since 2009.
He played a crucial role in Vietnam’s journey to the 2024 ASEAN Cup title, scoring seven goals in just four matches and providing two assists. As Vietnam became champions, he was also named MVP and top scorer of the tournament.
Son broke his right leg during the second leg of the final against Thailand while attempting a cross into the penalty area. He underwent a successful surgery on Monday and was reported to be in a stable condition and able to move with crutches on Tuesday morning.
