National anthem singing contest launched at red addresses

Updated: 08:57, 26/04/2025

Under the theme "Em yeu To quoc Viet Nam" (I Love Vietnam), the national anthem singing contest for children at historic sites (also known as “red addresses”) will take place nationwide from now until September.

The contest is open to young pioneer organisations’ members, children and teenagers currently studying or participating in activities at primary and secondary schools, children’s cultural centres, youth centres, and other youth facilities across the country.

Children in the capital sing the National Anthem in response to the contest at the launch ceremony.

On the morning of April 25, the contest was officially launched by the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation in Hanoi to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 84th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation, and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

It also looks ahead to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

According to Le Anh Quan, Vice Chairman of the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation and Director of the Vietnamese Children Support and Development Centre, the contest is designed as a meaningful journey for young pioneer organisation’s members and children across the country to remember history through“red addresses”, marking heroic victories, sacrifices, and proud historical pages of the nation.

At these “red addresses”, children will sing the sacred melody of the National Anthem with their pride and reverence.

Through this contest, the organisers hope to enhance communication and education on the heroic history of the Vietnamese people, and the revolutionary traditions of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation.

The contest is also linked to experiential and practical learning activities.

In addition, the contest is expected to inspire national pride among children and young teenagers, nurture their patriotism, and educate revolutionary ideals and traditional moral values such as “drinking water, remembering the source” and “gratitude activities”.

It also aims to create a healthy, practical, and helpful playground to help children learn about the tradition, history, and national cultural beauties in regions, contributing to preserving and promoting the values of historical relics and red addresses in their hometowns.
