In addition to the prestigious Michelin star ratings, the event will also highlight Michelin-selected restaurants and announce the winners of the Michelin Guide Special Awards, along with the "Bib Gourmand" award for restaurants in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang.
Michelin inspectors evaluate restaurants based on five key criteria: the chef’s personality as reflected in the cuisine, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of cooking techniques, the quality of products, and consistency over time and across the menu.
In the Michelin system, one star denotes a very good restaurant, two stars represent excellent cooking worth a detour, and three stars signify exceptional cuisine worth a special journey.
Last year, two restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Da Nang received one Michelin star, bringing the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Vietnam to seven.
These new entries included Akuna Restaurant at Le Méridien Saigon Hotel, The Royal Pavilion at The Reverie Saigon Hotel, and La Maison 1888 at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
Four other restaurants retained their one-star rating from 2023: Hibana by Koki, Gia, and Tam Vi in Hanoi, and Anan Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Michelin Guide website, there are over 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants in nearly 40 countries worldwide.
