Bac Giang automates farming, targets smart agriculture
BAC GIANG – Moving toward smart agriculture, cost-efficiency and added value, many farmers and agricultural enterprises in Bac Giang province are adopting advanced technologies to automate specific steps or entire production processes.
The Dabaco Yen The breeding center, operated by Dabaco Poultry Breeding Limited Company in Tam Tien Commune, Yen The District is among the pioneers in automating poultry farming.

Covering over 5 hectares, the center houses seven scientifically designed, fully enclosed barns in a clean and well-ventilated environment.
Director Bach Trong Toa shared: “With automated systems, one person can manage multiple tasks while maintaining high product quality, food safety and minimizing disease risks.”
Each year, the center raises about 2 million commercial laying hens and 400,000 parent stock chickens, yet only requires 25 direct technical workers. Most tasks like feeding, watering, egg collection, humidity control, ventilation, egg turning—are handled by machines.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the application of automation and new, modern techniques in agricultural production has changed people's awareness towards sustainable development, creating safe, effective, highly competitive products, meeting market demand, helping increase income and accelerate the process of building new rural areas, raising the value of agricultural production to 138 million VND per hectare. |
Since 2017, the company has implemented a modern barn system and imported farming equipment from France and the U.S. For example, egg collection is as simple as flipping a switch—automated conveyors transport eggs while workers pack thousands of them on the spot with minimal effort.
In the hatchery, all key metrics of temperature, humidity, egg turning, incubation time are digitally displayed.
Sensors and heating bars ensure consistent conditions: 16°C for storage, 29°C for hatching. This solution enables the company to produce four times more high-quality chicks than traditional breeding methods.
Automation is also being adopted in aquaculture and crop farming. According to Le Ba Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has promoted scientific research, technology transfer and the application of advanced methods in agriculture. Many producers are investing in automation equipment.
Bac Giang has identified seven key and potential agricultural products: pigs, chickens, lychees, rice, vegetables, rice noodles and Yen The tea.
The province currently hosts 774 cooperatives, 86 collaborative groups and 586 farms. Additionally, localities have built 1,520 high-tech farming models with strong links between producers, cooperatives and enterprises in the value chain.
These efforts create favorable conditions for expanding modern agricultural production.
