Vietnam wins three gold medals at the World Cadet and Youth Rapid and Blitz Championship 2025
The Vietnamese youth chess team won three gold medals, the FIDE World Cadet & Youth Rapid & Blitz Championships 2025, held from April 12 to 18 in Greece.
The three players who won gold medals include Nguyen Nam Kiet in the men's U14 rapid chess category with 9 points after 11 matches, and Dau Khuong Duy, with an undefeated record, winning 9 points after 11 matches, won the U14 blitz chess category.

The remaining player was Tran Hoang Bao An, leading the girls' U10 blitz chess category with an outstanding score of 9.5 after 11 matches.
In this group, Bao An surpassed two Indian players with 9 points each.
In addition, the Vietnamese chess team also won 6 silver medals and 6 bronze medals in other events.
Vietnam’s men’s team has defeated reigning champion Uzbekistan 3-1 in the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad Budapest 2024.
Vietnam number one chess player Le Quang Liem has reached his career-high position of 14th on the standard chess Elo ranking, surpassing the reigning world champion Ding Liren.
BAC GIANG - The 2024 National Excellent Chess Championship was organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports in Do Son District (Hai Phong City) from August 9 to 19. The tournament attracted 160 athletes from 19 provinces, cities, industries and clubs nationwide.
