Bac Giang wins 28 medals at National Youth Chess Championship

BAC GIANG - The 2024 National Youth Chess Championship wrapped up on July 1 after nearly 2,000 dramatic and exciting matches at the Bac Giang Provincial Convention Center. 

The event was jointly held by Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam Chess Federation and Bac Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism from June 23 to July 1, attracting about 350 young players from 13 provinces, cities and clubs across the country.

Athlete Phung Bao Quyen (podium number 1) wins gold medal at the U18 women’s blitz chess event.

They were divided into various age groups of U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18 and U20 to compete in 4 contents of Men's individual, women's individual, men's team, women's team in various categories of standard chess, traditional chess, rapid chess and blitz chess.

Bac Giang delegation had 33 athletes participating in all 4 events at different age groups. Concluding the tourney, Bac Giang players win 28 medals, including 6 gold, 5 silver, 17 brozen, surpassing 4 gold and 18 medal of all kinds comparing to the target.

The gold winners were Vu Duc Nguyen at U7 men's standard chess, Hoang Manh Hung at U11 men's rapid chess, Phung Bao Quyen at U18 women's blitz chess.

Additionally, the team gold medals were awarded to Vu Duc Nguyen and Vu Duc Dat at U7 men's standard chess; Phung Bao Quyen and Nguyen Thanh Thao at U18 women's standard chess and Ninh Anh Phi and Ho Tuan Duong at U18 men's traditional chess.
