Khau Vai Love Market Festival opens in Ha Giang
Khau Vai love market, also known as Phong Luu market, established in 1919, officially opened its 2025 festival in Meo Vac Town, Ha Giang Province on April 22.
The festival, with the theme "Khau Vai’s Return," is held annually on the 27th day of the 3rd lunar month.

In her opening speech, Vuong Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee, highlighted the province's efforts to preserve and promote cultural values, making culture a driving force for economic and social development.
The Khau Vai market, a unique cultural event, celebrates love and human connections, with its origins rooted in a poignant love story between Ba, a young man from the Nung ethnic minority group, and Ut, a girl from the Giay ethnic group. Despite family opposition, they vowed to meet every year on the 27th day of the 3rd lunar month.
Over the years, the market has become a symbol of cultural heritage, where people gather not for trade but to find love, seek blessings, and experience traditional customs. The festival also promotes the beauty of sincere, pure, and passionate love.
This year’s festival, running from April 22 to 24, features exciting activities such as folk games, costume performances, Mong dance, Lo Lo ethnic fire dances, and Giay ethnic drum dances.
Visitors can also enjoy local cuisine, explore the night market, and take boat rides on the Nho Que hydroelectric lake.
The service is available from early morning until late evening, in accordance with the Sun World Cat Ba cable car schedule and events taking place at Xanh Island.
