Kim Sang-sik to lead ASEAN All-Stars in match against Manchester United
Vietnam’s head coach Kim Sang-sik has been picked by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) to lead the ASEAN All-Stars Team in an upcoming friendly match against Manchester United at the Maybank Challenge Cup.
The match is scheduled for May 28 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Malaysia.

According to the AFF, Kim’s appointment to lead the ASEAN All-Stars Team clearly reflects his excellence and the deep trust he has earned across the footballing community.
It noted that Kim guided Vietnam to an undefeated campaign and championship title at the 2024 ASEAN Cup with his integrity, discipline and vision.
Speaking about the appointment, Kim said “It’s an honour to lead the best players from across ASEAN in a match of this magnitude. We are not just representing our nations—we are showing the world our region’s pride, spirit, and strength.”
AFF President Khiev Sameth commented: “Coach Kim is a symbol of progress and professionalism. His leadership will inspire not just our players, but an entire generation of footballers and fans.”
The ASEAN All-Stars Team will feature top players selected from all 12 AFF member associations, reflecting the diversity and collective strength of Southeast Asian football.
The match promises to be one of the largest regional sporting events in 2025, as ASEAN stars will play against a giant of European football for the first time.
