Since its first launch in 2015, the programme has left deep impressions on visitors to the northern province of Ha Giang.

Running throughout September, this year’s event featured various activities across the district, including the Mong ethnic culture festival in Ta Su Choong commune, a paragliding festival in Thong Nguyen commune, a rural market, folk games, and folklore art performances.

At the opening ceremony, the Hoang Su Phi district’s authorities received the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s certificates, honouring the post-harvest ritual of the Co Lao ethnic group in Tung San commune and the Ban Vuong worshipping ceremony of the Red Dao ethnic people in Ho Thau commune, as two national intangible cultural heritages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son, stressed that the acknowledgement of the two heritages, not only has great significance in preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic communities but also motivates the tourism development in Hoang Su Phi district, and Ha Giang province in general.

With two recently added heritages, Ha Giang now has 27 national intangible cultural heritages, including six practised by ethnic groups in the Hoang Su Phi district.
