Trinh Duy Hieu bags silver medal at Asian Physics Olympiad
The APhO 2019 lured nearly 200 participants from 23 countries and territories. The individuals took two 5-hour long exams, one theory and one practical.

At the closing ceremony, the Organization Board awarded 58 medals including 9 gold, 16 silver, and 33 bronze medals, as well as 29 consolation prizes to the outstanding contestants. All 8 contestants of the Vietnamese team gained the high results.
Thanks to their excellent competitions, Trinh Duy Hieu, a 12th grader of the physics class in the Bac Giang High School for the Gifted Students and Nguyen Xuan Ung, a student of HUS High School for the Gifted, Hanoi won silver medals.

Besides, 5 Vietnamese contestants won bronze medals including Nguyen Khanh Linh, student of Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa province, Tran Xuan Tung, student of Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in Hanoi, Le Huy Hoang, student of Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted in Ha Nam province, Le Cong Minh Hieu, student of Hue High School for the Gifted in Thua Thien Hue province and Nguyen Xuan Tan, student of HUS High School for the Gifted in Hanoi whilst Le Quang Huy, student of Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted in Ha Nam province won consolation prize.
The 21st Asian Physics Olympiad 2020 is scheduled to take place in Taiwan (China).

This is the second time Trinh Duy Hieu won a medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad. Particularly, this student won gold medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad and silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad in 2018.
With his excellent achievement at the regional competition, Trinh Duy Hieu and other 4 contestants were selected for the national team to compete at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Tel Avis, Israel in July this year.
