Le Thi Hanh (standing) pays regular attention to jobs and lives of laborers.

Hanh has worked for the company since its establishment and she always gives her best efforts for work. In 2010, she was voted to be the company’s Trade Union Chairwoman. At this position, she takes initiative to collaborate with and give the recommendations to the Directorial Board to take care of the workers and improve their working environment. Thus, production and business of Viet Pan Pacific has been effectively developed, thus creating stable jobs for nearly 3,000 workers with average incomes of 6 to 7 million VND (264 to 308 USD) per month. “The Trade Union’s Executive Board (TUEB) always pays attention to negotiating with the company leaders to ink collective labor agreement (CLA) and implement the incentive polices i.e. increasing annual leave compared to regulations of the Labor Laws and bonus of 1 to 2 months of minimum salaries for laborers and providing allowances to workers in charge of heavy work”, said the trade union chairwoman.

Hanh regularly listens to ideas and aspirations of the laborers and holds dialogues with the company leaders to adjust some policies facilitating workers. Since 2012, the Trade Union has advised the company leaders to implement the regulation on workplace dialogues, which are required two periodical dialogues per year contributing to handling the arising problems and building up good working relationship between the company leaders and laborers.

As the special feature of garment production of the company, female workers take majority of 95 percent. To encourage effective performance of the workers, Hanh and other members of TUEB launch the movement “Good at work, capable of house hold chores” at the beginning of each year. The excellent unionists are awarded monthly. Besides, she recommended the company leaders to organize tours, art and sport exchanges for employees and give presents to the needy unionists.

Although she is very busy with both duties of a manager and Trade Union chairwoman, Le Thi Hanh can still manage time to fulfill her roles at home. With her outstanding contributions, she is honored by the Trade Unions at all levels for many years and her company’s Trade Union has been recognized the strong distinction unit. Particularly, in 2014 and 2017, she was awarded merits by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) as an outstanding Trade Union Chairwoman nationwide.
