Vietnam have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 AFF Futsal Championship.

A mistake by keeper Ho Van Y in the 27th minute handed Australia a penalty, and Fornito did not miss the golden chance to narrow the gap by 1-2.

Just six minutes later, Thinh Phat restored Vietnam’s two-goal lead by firing a shot into an empty net.

In the last five minutes, Australia moved on to power-play, which proved to be their mistake. They conceded two additional goals within the next four minutes as

Doan Phat and Van Hieu etched their names on the scoresheet to seal a 5-1 win for Pham Minh Giang’s side.

The convincing triumph sent Vietnam through to the last four as the Group B runners-up with seven points from three games.

Meanwhile, Myanmar trounced Timor Leste 10-3 later on the same day to qualify as the group winners, securing a goal difference two better than Vietnam (12:10).
