Vietnam named World’s Leading Heritage Destination 2019

Vietnam has been honoured with “the World’s Leading Heritage Destination 2019” by the 26th World Travel Awards (WTA) at a recently held awards ceremony in Oman, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Launched in 1993, the WTA has become one the quality measures of the tourism industry and are considered as the Oscars of tourism by The Wall Street Journal.

It acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourist and hospitality industries.
Vietnam welcomed a total of nearly 16.3 million international tourists in the first 11 months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%.
Vietnam’s tourism sector aims to receive 17.5 – 18 million foreign tourists and serve 85 million domestic visitors in 2019, raking in total revenue of VND700 trillion (US$30.17 billion).

Hanoi is in 15th position and Ho Chi Minh City in 18th among Mastercard’s top 20 Asia-Pacific destinations for international travelers this year.
