Vietnam's beef pho makes world's top 100 dishes of 2025
Beef pho has secured the 93rd spot in the "100 best dishes in the world" list for 2025, curated by international food magazine TasteAtlas.
Beef pho was the only Vietnamese representative, receiving a rating of 4.44 stars out of 5, in the list released in early January.

The results were based on nearly 400,000 votes from food experts, diners, and chefs, covering over 11,000 dishes worldwide.
Beef pho is made from various cuts of beef, with a broth simmered from bones and oxtail, infused with spices like cinnamon and star anise. The noodles are topped with cuts like brisket, eye-round steak, rare or well-done beef and accompanied by scallions, fried dough sticks, lime, and chili.
On Aug. 9, 2024, Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced a new list of national intangible cultural heritage items, including Nam-Dinh-style pho and Hanoi-style pho.
TasteAtlas also ranked Vietnam as the 19th best cuisines in the world, highlighting dishes like banh mi, crowned the world's most delicious sandwich, and che ba mau, a Vietnamese dessert with beans and coconut milk, among Asia's top 100 desserts.
The top dish on the 2025 list was lechona, a Colombian roasted whole pig, followed by Italy's pizza napoletana (marinara with tomato and garlic, or margherita with tomato, mozzarella, and basil) and Brazil's picanha, a popular beef cut.
Countries with the most entries in the top 100 include Italy with 12 dishes, China with 9 dishes, Japan with 8 dishes, and Thailand with 6 dishes.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy, in partnership with national-flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, hosted the inaugural "Pho and Nem Day" in Rome, showcasing Vietnam's rich culinary heritage and promoting tourism.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy pho made and served by robots at the Hanoi Culinary Culture Festival, which is scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 1 at Thong Nhat Park.
