$2,000 per month for managers: IT leads salary ranks in 2024

Managers in the IT–software sector led the 2024 salary rankings with a monthly median income of VND52 million (US$2,048), followed by those in the banking and finance sectors.

The high pay demonstrated businesses’ needs for experienced IT managers with 4-6 years in the industry, a survey by recruitment platform TopCV shows.

Staff of 1-3 years made around VND20 million.

Financial companies and banks paid their managers a median salary of VND39 million, while staff with 1-3 years of experience received around VND15-16 million.

As the property sector stabilized last year with increasing demand, managers were paid VND39 million, while low-level staff fetched VND14 million.

Managers of manufacturing, sales and education businesses were compensated around VND26 million.

While in previous years job transitions often resulted in higher pay, only 9% of IT and 10% of non-IT staff received an income hike when they switched to a new job last year.

Many candidates were willing to accept lower salaries when moving to a new company because of the abundant supply of applicants, TopCV said, adding that it expects the same trend this year.

Some sectors that will continue to recruit in large numbers are IT, marketing, customer services and human resources.
