Nguyen Thi Oanh wins best female elite athlete title at 2024 Runners of the Year Awards
BAC GIANG- VnExpress hosted a ceremony on January 13 to present Runners of the Year Awards for individuals and collectives who made great contributions to running movement in 2024.
As predicted, Nguyen Thi Oanh, the athlete from Bac Giang won a landslide victory at the category for outstanding professional female athletes. She received full support from both readers (72.38 percent) and the jury board (100 percent), reaching 88.95 percent in total scores.

Following her success in 2023 with 3 SEA Games gold medals, Nguyen Thi Oanh continued dominating big tournaments in the whole country in 2024.
Remarkably, Oanh represented Bac Giang province to compete at the National Athletics Championships in November in Dong Nai province when she easily won 3 contents of her strength including 1,500m, 5,000m, 3,000m and steeplechase.
At the Viettel Marathon, this Bac Giang runner continued breaking the national women’s marathon record when she reached the finish line first on My Dinh stadium with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 50 seconds.
“I have received great love from my fans, sisters and brothers in the runner community so far, which motivates the athletes like me to practice. The award today is another sweet fruit for me. I would like to thank everyone for voting me and I do promise to make ceaseless efforts to gain better achievements in the future”, said Nguyen Thi Oanh.
