The draw results for the 2018 AFC Futsal Club Championship.

The draw for the groups of the tournament was held in Jakarta on May 18, with the 16 teams drawn into four groups of four teams.

The participants will play in a round-robin format to decide the top two performers from each group that will progress into the quarterfinal round.

According to the draw, Al Dhafra (United Arab Emirates) and Naft Al-Wasat (Iraq) are two familiar names to the Vietnamese representatives.

Specifically, Thai Son Nam once defeated Al Dhafra in the group stage of the 2017 competition, while finishing off Naft Al-Wasat with four straight goals in the quarterfinals. The Vietnamese club even thrashed Naft Al-Wasat 7-3 in the third-place match three years ago.

Jeonju MAG from the Republic of Korea is regarded as an unknown entity for the Vietnamese side in this year’s championship.

At last year’s tournament, held in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Son Nam claimed the overall bronze medal after trouncing Qatar’s Al Rayyan 6-1 in the third-place match. In addition, the Vietnamese club was presented with the fair-play prize.
