Vietnamese people show social consensus and solidarity amidst pandemic

Over the past few days, as many provinces and cities across the country are rallying all their strength into the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, the spirit of solidarity and social consensus of the Vietnamese people has once again emerged. Helping hands have been provided to people living in pandemic-hit areas.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the VFF’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter, in the past few days, people across the country have turned their hearts towards the city by making donations to help the southern hub repel the pandemic, soon bringing people’s lives back to normal.

More than 23 tonnes of vegetables from Dak Lak province have been sent to support people in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ha Tinh provincial authorities and people recently presented VND2billion to help people in Ho Chi Minh City overcome this difficult period of time.

Meanwhile, more than 23 tonnes of vegetables from Dak Lak province have been sent to support people in quarantined areas and areas which have been blocked due to Covid-19 in the city’s districts and Thu Duc City.

The city's Fatherland Front has coordinated with the Vietnam Caravan group to transport and deliver the fruit to needy people. A member of the Vietnam Caravan said that the group had mobilised 20 pickup trucks for the delivery of the fruit.

Chairwoman of the VFF’s Ho Chi Minh City Chapter To Thi Bich Chau has sent a letter to the people of the city, calling for their understanding, calm and joint efforts at a time when their lives might face many difficulties and disturbances due to the social distancing order under Directive 16. She stressed that the application of strict social distancing measures is essential to further help reduce spread of the virus and provide the health system with more time to focus on treating existing Covid-19 patients.

The city’s Fatherland Front Committee plans to allocate funds to promptly support disadvantaged people and poor households in the city.

At a function in Hanoi, VFF Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung received VND50 million in donations from the OV community in Macau (China) to the Vietnam’s national Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Meanwhile, leaders of Lao’s Khammuane province have presented US$20,000 and five tonnes of rice to Ha Tinh province. The Central Executive Board of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha handed over VND500 million for Covid-19 prevention and control in An Giang province.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to witness complicated developments in many localities across the country, causing great damage to the lives of the people, it is necessary for individuals, organisations and benefactors to make joint efforts and promote solidarity to successfully root out the pandemic.

PM commits all possible support to Ho Chi Minh City in Covid-19 fight
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has pledged to give priority to Ho Chi Minh City in terms of financial resources, infrastructure, materials and biological products to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, which is spreading rapidly and complicatedly in the southern hub.
Employees, employers able to access US$1.13 billion support package from July 8
Both employees and employers that are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic can gain access to the Government’s support package worth VND26 trillion (US$1.13 billion) from July 8.
