Vietnam’s red flesh dragon fruits favoured at Australian market
As result of joint efforts by the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia and the Melbourne-based Da Lat export-import company, five tonnes of Vietnam’s red flesh dragon fruit were on sale this week and received warm appreciation from Australian customers.

The fruits has been distributed to local supermarkets, stores and major fruit markets in the three states.
According to Nguyen Phu Hoa, head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, although the Covid-19 epidemic has caused certain difficulties in the promotion and distribution of Vietnam’s red flesh dragon fruits, the promotional week was held successfully thanks to the enthusiastic support of Vietnamese business associations in Australia and the overseas Vietnamese community in their host country.
He said that amid travel restrictions due to the pandemic, the Office plans to launch digital tools to facilitate Vietnamese businesses’ export activities to Australia. The Office has also worked to develop a forum for agricultural exporters from Vietnam in Australia to design plans addressing potential risks in the global market.
Vietnamese dragon fruit was allowed to enter Australia in July 2017, after nine years of negotiation. Notably, the Australian side has opened its door for only fresh dragon fruit from Vietnam.
The promotion of Vietnam’s red flesh dragon fruits in major Australian states provides a great opportunity to establish the position of the fruit in one of the world’s most demanding markets.
