Wholehearted devotion to save life

The Emergency Department of Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital seems to be the head of the wind wave which regularly receives critical cases from localities. Many patients are only few months old with light weight and week health so the infectious condition could be badly progressed in short period of time leading to thin border between the death and vitality.

The officials and staff at provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital actively respond to emulative movement of “Renovating serving behaviour toward patients’ satisfaction”.

So, the doctors and nurses always stay alert for emergency case. They also keep studying and updating modern medical knowledge while practicing to respond to any circumstance against time to rescue severe patients.

Quang Chau commune (Viet Yen district) houses nearly 17,000 citizens and workers. Doctor Nguyen Thi Phuong, Head of the communal medical station said the average income of grassroots physicians is over five million VND (214 USD) per person per month but they have a lot of works to do.

Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Anh (born in 1987) is raising her children alone because her husband passed away. She must open an online business to gain more income.

“When thinking about family, I want to quit job at the station to seek another one with better income. But the white blouse I wear does not allow me to turn back to patients. I keep encouraging myself to be stronger to overcome the difficulties,” she shared.

Each position in the medical sector has signature property, especially doctors and nurses in charge of patients suffering from tuberculosis, metal disorder and HIV.

At the peak outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in May and June 2021, thousands of medical workers must work under high intense, regularly stay away from home but they still encouraged each other to firmly keep the belief, exert effort to contain the pandemic and save patients.

The hardship clearly proved the divine mission of the doctors and physicians. The image of white blouse in the frontline becomes the professional pride for thousands of medical officials, public servants and staff.

Reinforcing belief, practicing medical ethics, improving technique

In post Covid-19 period, thousands of health workers quitted the job, especially in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi cities. The main reasons are low income, insufficient allowances and policies, mostly in the preventive and grassroots medical facilities. While the private medical system offers more attractive policies to lure medical workforce.

In Bac Giang, 114 cases have quitted job or changed working place since 2021.

To help the doctors and physicians have stable life and comfortably devote to medical sector, Director of the Health Department Tu Quoc Hieu said the Department has proposed the Ministry of Health several times to submit the salary increase suggestion to the Government for reviewing.

Besides, the Department directed lower units to care for the life of trade union members and labours; enhance training and fostering to improve qualification and profession; reinforce the organization so as to arrange skilled officials to suitable positions to promote their advantages and capability.

The medical sector in Bac Giang province has more than 6,500 public servants, staff and labours. The female members account for 65 percent.

Chairwoman of the Medical sector Trade Union Vu Thi Sau said the difficulties seem to be double for female doctors and nurses because they must take the responsibility of a wife, mother and daughter in law in the family after working time. Surpassing the challenges, they still arrange time to carefully take care of all tasks.

For over 5 years, more than 1,200 researches, creative ideas and scientific topics have been implemented in the sector while hundreds of new techniques, high and intensive techniques have been successfully applied at the hospitals to improve the quality of health care and protection.

One of the requirements for doctors is to exert the highest efforts for saving patient, share the knowledge and experience for colleagues.

Amid many difficulties and challenges in life and career, the models of simple doctors still wholeheartedly devote for the medical sector, save people’ life and fully keep Hippocratic oath.
