The event was attended by Vietnamese sports officials, ambassadors of Australia and New Zealand, which will host the tournament next year, as well as Mai Duc Chung, the head coach of the Vietnam women’s team.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup is the ninth edition of the competition and marks the first time that Vietnam have qualified.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan proudly said that Vietnamese female players demonstrated their strong will to overcome the challenges and win the ticket to the World Cup.

Representing FIFA, Sarah Gandoin said the presence of the Vietnam women’s team at the 2023 World Cup would inspire the next generations of players to look forward to the future World Cup editions.

She added that Vietnam are in a difficult group with giants such as the Netherlands and the US but she believed that Vietnamese players would do their best at the competition.

Approaching the World Cup trophy, Coach Mai Duc Chung said he was very proud to see the trophy in Vietnam, which is a great motivation for him and his players.

Chung promised that the Vietnam’s women team will do their best at the World Cup to meet the expectations of fans at home and around the world.

For her part, centre-back Chuong Thi Kieu said he she was very happy to see the trophy in person and pledged to play well at the World Cup.
