The delegation of Can Tho city was led by Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho city.

The delegates were received by Nguyen Van Gau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Bac Giang province.

On behalf of the leaders of Bac Giang province, the Party Chief Nguyen Van Gau briefed the guest on the storm No.3’s aftermath and local effort to recovery the situation.

Although proactive solutions were implemented early and bad situations were anticipated, the super storm caused severe impact on wide area, killed 2 people, injured 15 people, broke nearly 10,000 houses together with heavy damage to agricultural production, totally loss of about 5 trillion VND.

At the meeting, Acting Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee Ho Thi Hoang Yen presented 2 billion VND; the Executive Committee of Ben Tre Provincial Buddhist Sangha presented 30 million VND to support Bac Giang province to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.

Additionally, Nguyen Trung Nhan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City handed over the storm relief funds to the provinces of Bac Giang, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang (each locality received 1 billion VND).

Speaking at the event, Ho Thi Hoang Yen shared with the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Giang province about the damage caused by storm No. 3. She believed that with dynamism and solidarity, Bac Giang will soon overcome the loss, help people stabilize their lives, quickly recover and maintain the achievements of socio-economic development.

The delegation of Can Tho city presents 1 billion VND to support the people of Bac Giang to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Nguyen Van Gau thanked the Party Committee, government and people of Ben Tre province and Can Tho city for their sentiment and sharing with Bac Giang in particular and the storm hit localities in general. This support was the driving force for Bac Giang to overcome difficulties and complete the set goals.

He hoped that Bac Giang province and the two localities would continue to maintain solidarity and support each other in socio-economic development and improve people's lives.

Bac Giang allocates second funding to support storm victims

UN humanitarian affairs body provides 2 million USD to Vietnamese storm victims

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on September 20 announced that it has allocated 2 million USD to support Vietnam in carrying out efforts to respond to Typhoon Yagi, which struck the country on September 7 and caused widespread devastation with more than 290 deaths and 237,000 homes damaged, and some 3 million people affected.
