Vinh Nghiem Pagoda has been expanded in space.

According to statistics, there are nearly 300 historical and cultural relic sites in Yen Dung district, including two special national, two national-level and 76 provincial-level ones.

Besides Canh Son Pagoda, to fix the degradation, contributing to creating beautiful landscapes for relic sites, in the past 5 years, the district has repaired and embellished more than 40 recognized relic sites at a total cost of nearly 30 billion VND (1.28 million USD).

In the process of implementation, in addition to funding from higher levels, localities have strengthened the mobilization of resources from the people for the restoration of the sites.

For example, in Thang Cuong commune, the people contributed nearly 1.6 billion VND (68,600) to repair and build many new items in the relic site of Phan Loi Communal House and Pagoda. Lao Pagoda and La Vu Hau Temple in Duc Giang commune were also upgraded at a cost of nearly 900 million VND (38,600 USD), mainly from the resources from the people.

Or in the special national relic site of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda has also been expanded in space, with the house storing and displaying woodblocks built and the road system upgraded with a budget of more than 10 billion VND (429,180 USD). More than 90 percent of funds for restoration of relic sites in the district since 2014 have been mobilized from social resources.

Managing and promoting the value of relic sites

Nguyen Van Thong, Deputy Director of the district Center for Culture-Information and Sports, affirmed: “Along with restoration and renovation activities, over the past years, the district Party Committee and People's Committee have directed local Party committees and authorities to raise the people's awareness of restoration and renovation work in association with the conservation and promotion of the relic values. Over the past time, the district has organized many professional training workshops on cultural heritage preservation for those who manage, supervise and directly protect relic sites”.

According to statistics, since the beginning of 2019, the district has attracted more than 200,000 visitors. Most of them came to key relic sites such as: Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery, Kem Pagoda...

At present, all 80 recognized relic sites in the district have established a commune-level management board led by the Vice Chairperson of the communal People's Committee, and set up a map of areas zoned off for protection (of which 49 relic sites are granted land use right certificates).

In major relic sites, especially Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, presenters from the district Center for Culture-Information and Sports are responsible for welcoming and guiding visitors and promoting the relic sites.

To create favorable conditions for tourists to visit and study its key relic sites, the district has basically completed the planting of signs. It has directed the competent agencies to organize the contest "I love the history of Yen Dung homeland" every two years, compile and publish three volumes with about 6,500 prints introducing the system of cultural and historical relic sites in the district.

In addition, every year, the local Party Committee and authorities focus on directing the organization of festivals associated with relic sites, following the motto of restoring traditional cultural values to create pervasiveness and imprints in the cultural panorama of the district.

With regular restoration and renovation, the system of cultural and historical relic sites in the district has become more and more spacious, promoting their values in the people’s life and contributing positively to promoting local socio-economic development.
