Yen The hill chicken was granted certificate of trademark registration by the National Office of Intellectual Property (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) in 2011 and protected industrial property in 3 countries including China, Laos and Singapore.
In line with hill chicken, the district is home to many other signature products such as Hong Ky mountain goat, green tea, late ripening longan and red-flesh dragon fruit. The district currently has 46 OCOP products including four 4-star products and the others rated 3 stars.
At the festival, the delegates, local people and visitors had opportunity to experience processing of the products and enjoy local traditional dishes and specialties. Besides, a number of exciting activities, particularly the contest for beautiful pairs of chickens, cooking competition featuring hill chicken and local typical products and competition for booths showcasing agro-forestry and handicraft products took place at the festival.
On this occasion, the people’s committee of Yen The district announced the decision and handed over 3-star OCOP product certification in 2024 to 17 products including 13 new ones and the others being re-evaluated and re-classified.
At the closing ceremony on 27 October, the Organizing Board hosted a bidding for beautiful pairs of chickens. The total bid value was over 280 million VND (10,996 USD), in which the pair of chickens of Huong Vi commune winning first prize was paid 150 million VND (5,890 USD). The whole auction amount was transferred to the district Fatherland Front Committee to support needy households in the district.
