“Red blood campaign” to take place from May to August

(BGO) – To recover the blood shortage for emergency and patient treatment in summer occasion, the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation in Bac Giang province (Steering Committee) has launched plan to organize “Red blood campaign” and “Red Journey programme” in 2023.

Accordingly, Bac Giang strives to launch blood donation event in response of the “Red blood campaign in 2023 summer” in all districts, city and local organizations so as to receive 35 percent of the blood unit criteria (equal to 5,600 blood units) assigned by the National Steering Committee in 2023.

All levels of association focus on mobilizing resources and gifting at least 5,000 turns of needy cases, poor patients and social policy families in the Humanitarian month. The provincial volunteers are called on to donate more than 500 working days to communicate and persuade people about voluntary blood donation (VBD), take care of the blood donors’ health, operate the VBD clubs and propaganda teams among others.

To successfully launch the campaign, the provincial Steering Committee has accelerated communication events to call on donating the blood, tissues and body parts as well as other social humanitarian activities via mass media.

The campaign is launched in four months from May 1 to August 31, 2023 with the peak period lasting from June 1 till July 31, 2023.

The National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusions (NIHBT) held a programme in Hanoi on December 15 to honour 17 collectives and 9 individuals, who have made significant contributions to the blood donation drive.
Red Sunday 2023 blood donation campaign aims to collect 50,000 units of blood
The Chu Nhat Do 2023 (Red Sunday) blood donation campaign is expected to collect 45,000-50,000 units of blood to help alleviate the shortage of blood for emergency and treatment periods during and after the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.
