Around 1,500 athletes from 20 cities and provinces, including 280 foreign runners from 26 embassies, competed in the 45th Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) Newspaper Run, scheduled to start at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on September 30.
This year’s event is expected to draw the participation of many professional runners including Ngo Thi Oanh, Asian Games 2018 bronze medalist.

In the professional events, women will run three laps — equivalent to 5,250m — around Hoan Kiem Lake. The men will complete five laps, around 8,750m.
In the amateur category, students, workers, soldiers and expats, will compete in different distances, ranging from 1,750m to 5,250m.
The event, which is sponsored by Hisamitsu Vietnam Pharmaceutical Company, is one of several activities held to mark the 64th anniversary of Hanoi liberation and 19th anniversary of the capital being recognized as “The City for Peace” by UNESCO.
The tournament also aims at promoting sports among local people.
