Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong and representative of National Steering Board for VBD award the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s Certificate of Merit to the typical organizations and individuals.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong, leaders of some departments and sectors, representatives of the National Steering Board for VBD and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

With the Vietnamese traditions of solidarity and humanity, blood donation for life-saving has become a good deed that draws numerous participants. Annually, the Steering Boards for VBD of all levels have launched several meaningful programmes and festivals such as Red Spring Festival, Blood Donation Day for all strata of people, Summer Red Blood Campaign and Red Journey.

Bac Giang province has received nearly 9,400 blood units from early this year to date, accounting for 66 percent of the yearly plan and 12 fold increasing against the 2005 figure (first year launching of the provincial VBD).

There are many typical cases among the blood donors, including Than Thi Thu Thuy, Secretary of the Party’s Committee in Tho Xuong ward (Bac Giang city) with 30 blood donations; the Ho Cong in My An commune (Luc Ngan district) with 95 times donating the blood; 3 - member family of Nguyen Thi Quy in Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen district) voluntarily donating blood for 40 times among others.

Addressing at the event, Vice Chairman Le Anh Duong applauded the donors’ great contribution in the provincial VBD campaign, hoping that the Steering Boards for VBD of all levels should actively coordinate with the medical stations, schools and other agencies to effectively communicate and call for the residents’ consensus on the movement.

Besides, he urged the local authorities to pay due attention to facilitating the Steering Boards for VBD of all levels toward the best performances while the Fatherland Front’s Committee and the social-political organizations proactively call for the members’ participation as well as timely praise, honor and duplicate the exemplary models of VBD in the community, helping sustainably develop the movement.

On the occasion, 755 outstanding organizations, families and individuals were honored by the Ministry of Health, National Steering Board for VBD, Vietnam Red Cross Society, the provincial People’s Committee and Steering Board for VBD.
