The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023, with the theme "I love Vietnamese Ao Dai", at the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in District 1 on March 3.

The festival will be held throughout March with many exciting activities, promising to bring memorable emotions and unique experiences to Vietnamese people and international tourists alike.

On the opening night, the public was able to admire the outstanding collections of famous designers with hundreds of Ao Dai models associated with the message "I love Vietnamese Ao Dai".

Activities within the framework of this year's Ao Dai Festival will be held at historical sites, cultural relics, tourist destinations, and architectural works of Ho Chi Minh City, thereby contributing to the promotion of the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a "Safe Destination - A Lively Journey".

Accordingly, this year's Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has main activities such as: an Ao Dai parade, an art programme about Ao Dai, an Ao Dai charming contest, a drawing contest on Ao Dai, and an online Ao Dai contest.

In particular, within the framework of the festival, many technology applications will be introduced such as: launching an online interactive application to promote Ao Dai. This is one of the new features of this year's festival.

This year's Ao Dai Festival features the participation of 23 Ao Dai designers from across the country, along with the companionship of 19 famous artists, singers, actors and characters in the role of image ambassadors, such as People's Artist Kim Xuan, Outstanding Artist Phi Dieu, Outstanding Artist Trinh Kim Chi, Family of Outstanding Artist Tuyet Mai, Outstanding Artist Dinh Linh and Bamboo Flute Artist Nhat Minh, Doctor of Psychology Ly Thi Mai, and Miss H'Hen Niê.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc said that, through its 8 previous events, the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has become a cultural tourism event.

After the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival, the city also plans to organise the promotion of the Ao dai festival to the world with the goal of bringing the city's unique cultural tourism event to international markets and international buyers in the orientation of building the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival into an international cultural tourism event, thereby contributing to attracting and developing international tourist markets to Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.
