Early celebration
Hundreds of children in Van Son village, Tan Tien commune on August 9 (lunar month) were eager to join the early Mid-Autumn feast in the local cultural house.
According to Duong Ngoc Tan, Chairman of the Duong’s Council in Bac Giang province, the Council not only supported the expense to organize the art performances but also presented gifts to 10 poor children or those living in difficult circumstances so as to encourage them to overcome the difficulties.

Typically, this Mid-Autumn Festival was so special to Duong Linh Chi, a six grader. Her father got work accident years ago so all family relies on her mother who works in garment sector with a tight salary.
The economic difficulties seem to eliminate the children’s dream about the gift, Mooncake and candies. But it was so happy day to them when they were gifted, enjoyed the Mid-Autumn feast and lion dance.
Also wishing to bring the best things to children, many organizations and enterprises donated expenses and coordinated to hold Mid-Autumn Festival to the children of their officers, staff as well as the local kids while presenting many gifts to children of poor family, near poor households or those living in difficult circumstance.
Joint effort from community
Under the instruction of municipal People’s Committee, all schools and residential groups in the city will organize the Mid-Autumn Festival to the children on August 14, 15 (lunar month).
Bac Giang city has 768 children living in special cases and those with high risk of being in special circumstance. The municipal People’s Committee mobilizes the expense and calls for the donation from the organization, enterprise and kind-hearted people to present gifts to all children in these groups, each worth 300,000 – 500,000 VND as well as organize the Mid-Autumn festival to them The Vice Head of the municipal Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Anh Tuyet. |
This year, the city leader guided to hold the Moon festival, visit and present gifts to children living in special cases, poor family, near poor family as well as honor those with high spirit to conquer life challenges.
The Vice Head of the municipal Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Anh Tuyet said the municipal People’s Committee supports each village or residential group 1 million VND (43 USD) to organize Mid-Autumn Festival and 5 gift packages to present to children in poor and near poor families, each worth 500,000 VND (21.6 USD).
On the occasion, the municipal authority presented 651 gift sets with different value ranging from 300,000 – 500,000 VND to disadvantaged children. Apart from the provincial budget, this is the first year the city has mobilized the local socio-political organizations and enterprises to organize concentrated gifting to all of children living in special conditions or those with high risk of being in that case.
Many active donors such as Dai Ichi Vietnam Life Insurance Company, Bac Giang Honda Automotive Company, Tien Loi Confectionary Production Factory presented hundreds of gifts and Mooncakes for the children.

The trade union of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism called for the donation from leader, officer, public servant and staff to thoroughly prepare the programme “Moon Night Festival” to hundreds of their offspring and local children.
Besides, in Tho Xuong ward, Head of Hoa Yen pagoda monk Thich Minh Quyet has coordinated with the ward People’s Committee and Division for Protection of Children’s Rights to launch programme “Mid-Autumn Festival connects kind-heart” to needy children for years.
Thanks to the material and physical support from many buddhist followers and philanthropists, the local children, especially impoverished cases can enjoy a happy and meaningful Moon festival.
