The event has attracted the participation of 36 players in 18 teams from 10 countries and territories. Among them, the host country of Vietnam has sent three teams to the four-day event, Australia, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand have two teams each, while Kazakhstan, Singapore
The total prize money on offer at the tournament is US$ 12,000, with the winner pocketing US$2,600, the runner-up receiving US$2,000 and the third bagging US$1,600.

Pham Van Luan, Vice Director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Deputy Head of the organizing board, said that the AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship is part of a point-scoring system for the players.
After the opening ceremony, there was a match between the Vietnamese women 1 and Malaysia, with the game finishing in a 2-0 victory for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.
The tournament runs until April 23.
